England by Fall 2007
Placenames are changed now for the sake of security. We have talked about it several times in the past, but now is the time for action. We believe the time is here for a move to England for ministry there. We are now in the process of downsizing and preparing our home for sale in the months ahead. By next fall, all of our children will be college age, and will either settle into life here in southern Ontario or join us in England.
Birmingham is England's 2nd largest city, with a population of over one million. Muslims there number 150,000 and the city boasts over 100 mosques and for years was home to the largest mosque in the continent. The former mayor was Muslim and a present MP from Birmingham is Muslim.
Birmingham churches are not well-equipped to minister to Muslims but many want help. That's where we come in. We plan to conduct regular training seminars under the auspices of what we call "The Antioch Project". Our intention is that over time, the Birmingham churches will be better able to reach out to their Muslim neighbours.
But this won't merely be an academic exercise. The Antioch Project will be intensely practical. We will set the example by actively sharing Christ with Muslims. Ultimately, we would like to see a new church planted as a result of these efforts, a church composed of Muslims who have trusted Christ.
But what about the Internet Ministry? That will continue as now, Lord willing. In fact, almost everything Karen and I are now doing, will continue in Birmingham. The ministry will be similar, but the location is different.
Please pray now for a few things that must happen before Fall of 2007:
1. About $1400 CDN of additional monthly support (due to high rental costs)
2. Sale of our home and financial clearance from the mission
3. Wisdom in family matters and future situation for each child
