Broken Leg
Last Thursday evening (May 19) I spoke to a local association meeting of Baptist churches held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Bobcaygeon. The evening went very well and I spent a relaxed evening at the home of the pastor of the church. Doug and Debbie Harkness were gracious hosts, and old friends from college days. I was to leave the next morning to visit my mother in Gravenhurst and take her to the airport for a trip to Alberta for a visit with her grandchildren there.

But at about 2:30 am I went to visit the bathroom and ended up falling down the stairs. I broke the bones on both sides of my left ankle and spent the night in the Peterborough hospital. Pastor Harkness stayed with me through the night and drove me home to Brantford the next morning, about a 4 hour drive. He went above and beyond the call of duty, especially seeing that he had to attend a wedding that day, and be home to preach 2 services on Sunday. On Saturday, an orthopedic surgeon at the Brantford hospital here placed a metal plate and several screws in the injured leg to hold the bones together for healing. The doctor has said that I will need 3 months before I am fully mobile again. As a result, we may need to postpone the 25th anniversary trip to Italy that was to happen in late July.

I have partially shifted my office to the main floor of our house, which is why I can send this email to you now. We accept this as God's will for us now and are trying to learn how to adapt and live our lives in light of this new reality. Thank you for your prayers.

Mike's Troubles
We had hoped that perhaps "Mike" might be here in Canada by now, studying at college, but it has not happened yet. The application process is taking longer than we hoped and there are some complications we are working through. We are able to accept donations specifically for Mike's needs through ABWE, and encourage you to consider how you can help. I have already gone out on a limb and paid his tuition for the coming year expecting everything to fall into place. It amounted to $8,000 which is presently on my credit card. Donations will be put toward that amount. Keep praying for God's direction and help in this matter.

Lisa in Nicaraugua
Last Wednesday (May 18) we said goodbye to our 19-year-old daughter Lisa who is serving the Lord for 5 months at a discipleship training center in Nicaraugua. Most of her funds have come in. This 5 months will be the longest time any of our children will have been away from home before. She returns to Canada in October.

Thank you for praying for us. We feel the need of it very much. If you would like more detail, please call us at home or email.

Yours,
George for all
