"The angels said to Mary: ‘God bids you rejoice in a Word from Him. His name is the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary. He shall be noble in this world and in the next, and shall be favoured by God."

As the above verse from the Quran shows, Muslims also believe that the birth of Jesus was a significant event in human history. Jesus is said to be "a Word from Him (God)," "the Messiah," "noble in this world and in the next," and "favoured by God." For more, click here. If only Muslims knew more of the truth about Christmas--that Jesus was sent into the world to save us from our sins! During this special time of year, may God open the eyes of many to His greatest gift to mankind!

The Latest on "Mike"
In our previous update we told you a little about "Mike" and our desire to get him into the safe haven of Canada. We just received his application to study here in a theological institution and will be working to expedite the acceptance process. As of yet, no church or individual has come forward to sponsor him, but we are praying that God will supply that need as soon as possible. It will be difficult to do much more without a sponsor.

Personal Crunch
We have mixed emotions about sharing the following. For some time now, our personal financial situation has been deteriorating. We receive our full allotted support amount in US dollars each month, but we have lost significant buying power because of the strengthening Canadian dollar. That, along with other factors, means our monthly expenses greatly outstrip our income on a regular basis. We are receiving financial advice on this alarming state of affairs and are taking measures to reverse the slide. We ask you to pray that God will daily show us all we need to do to find the way out from under a growing burden.

Ministry Highlights
There is much to be encouraged about in our various ministry responsibilities over the past few months. The proposed Birmingham project is moving ahead nicely with the prospect of 3 couples involved when it hopefully begins about one year from now. The Togo team of ABWE has unanimously opted to move into a new kind of ministry that can have positive spiritual impact on local Muslims. We are grateful to God to have had a small part in helping them to see the possibilities.

Recently, we had 3 new contacts from our web ministries who are worthy of our prayers. "Oldmoe" was attracted by the respect we show to Muslims and had questions about how a person can have forgiveness of sins. "Seeker" is a wavering Christian-background person wanting to know whether faith in Christ really is superior to Islam. "Mushy" is an educated family man in Pakistan with secret interest in the teaching of the Bible.
